The story behind TellMyStory goes something like this.
I travel frequently between South Asia and the US. One many of my trips I stop over either in Bangkok, Singapore or Hong Kong to break my journey. I always took a lot of pictures and sometime saw interesting things that I would have liked to share with my family and friends immediately. Sometime seeing something like the harbor laser and light show on Hong Kong water front would evoke thoughts that I would have liked to share with my family and friends to enjoy. I always wondered if I could take pictures, record my comments and send them to friends and family right away. I could not find anything decent that would do that so I created the concept of TellMyStory. Simply put, it lets you take pictures, animate them with pan and zoom, record voice comments on pictures, add background music and most importantly lets you share it with family and friends by sending your story to another iPhone user, publish it on Facebook or simply send a link to the story via e-mail. Cool. All you need is a wi-fi or 3G Internet connection and the show will be sent instantly (well it can take a few seconds to a minute depending on how much data you are sending).
Since then some of my friends with whom I have shared early version of the application have :
- Used it at work. A friend goes around surveying construction sites. He takes pictures, highlights importatn features in the picture by zooming on them, record comments and e-mails it back to his office using cellulary 3G network.
- Used it at a ballpark to take picture and record comments while sitting in the ballpark. He shared the show with his friend who was traveling to Europe.
- Used it to record family events and share it with other family members who are thousands of miles away.
- Used it to take picture of a new born baby in the hospital, record baby’s first screams and send it to grand parents in another city.
- Used it to share travel experiences. A friend takes this app on his trips, records his travel and shares it with his family at the end of every day.
